Land consolidation in North Macedonia – EU-funded project closure and project launch

On 3 November, an opening ceremony will be organized for the IPA III project ‘’Enhancing Land Consolidation in North Macedonia’’, while also closing the IPA II project “Mainstreaming of the National Land Consolidation Programme” (MAINLAND), financed by the European Union, and co-funded by the FAO and implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy.

The event will be opened by:

  • Ljupco Nikolovski, Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy
  • Ambassador David Geer, Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of North Macedonia, and
  • Nabil Gangi, FAO Deputy Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia.

Short summary of the projects:

The EU-funded project “Mainstreaming of the National Land Consolidation Programme”(MAINLAND) is implemented by FAO in close cooperation with the Ministry for Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, in the period from March 2017 to November 2022. Building directly on the results of the MAINLAND project, the EU-funded project ‘’Enhancing Land Consolidation in North Macedonia’’ is implemented by FAO in close cooperation with Ministry, in the period from August 2022 until January 2026. This follow-up project aims to assist the Ministry to further enhance land consolidation in North Macedonia by improving the national policy on land consolidation, including strategic, legal, and institutional frameworks, as well as to continue supporting the implementation of the National Land Consolidation Programme through a full-fledged implementation of land consolidation projects in two project areas, combined with construction of agricultural infrastructure.
