FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia

Launch of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Europe and Central Asia

Hybrid Event, 17/12/2019

FAO will present the 2019 edition of the Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition in Europe and Central Asia on 17 December. The report provides new evidence for monitoring trends in food security and nutrition within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The in-depth analysis of progress made against Sustainable Development Goal 2 Target 2.1 and Target 2.2, as well as the state of micronutrient deficiencies, is complemented by a review of recent policy measures taken to address food security and nutrition in all its dimensions.

The report provides specific recommendations for policymakers for targeted interventions on ensuring better nutrition, reduction of inequalities, rural development, and global sustainability goals.

The 2019 edition dedicates a special section to the structural transformations taking place in Europe and Central Asia – in the economy, agricultural and food production, food consumption patterns and diets, and policies.

The event will be webcast in English and Russian.
