Lumpy skin disease simulation exercise in Uzbekistan

Earlier, FAO launched a Technical Cooperation Programme to strengthen preparedness against lumpy skin disease in Central Asia in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Among others, the project foresees the improving of each country’s legal, regulatory, and preparedness framework against the cattle disease, and conducts a desktop lumpy skin disease simulation exercise involving relevant government agencies to test different component of the contingency plan using a realistic scenario.

Objectives of the exercise

  • Practice response activities: from suspicion visit until confirmation;
  • Practice outbreak investigation;
  • Review response procedures following confirmation;
  • Discuss emergency vaccination planning and logistics.
