Second national round table discussion on plant genetic resources for food and agriculture

Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA) provide invaluable ecosystem services that contribute to sustainable agricultural production systems. To prevent losses and maximize the availability of a wide range of PGRFA there is a need to ensure more systematic conservation and sustainable use efforts at national levels. FAO REU and the Republic of Belarus is continuing the work in this area and organising second national round table discussion of draft national Strategy on PGRFA Conservation.

 The second national round table discussion will take place in the capital of Belarus during two days 30-31 May 2018 with participation of all relevant stakeholders involved into the implementation of The Belarussian State Programme "Mobilization and Sustainable Use of Plant Genetic Resources of the National Bank for Breeding, Enriching of Cultivated and Natural Flora of Belarus" for 2016-2020, National Academy of Sciences and Research and Practical Centre of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Arable Farming.
