Study tour for sharing experiences on rural development at national and local level

Under the Hungarian funded FAO project entitled “Support to the Preparation for Community-led Local Development Planning and Implementation of a Pilot Project in the Livno area” (GCP/BIH/008/HUN) launched last August, FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia organizes a one-week study tour for a delegation from Bosnia- Herzegovina, including Mr Dušan Nešković, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Mr Nijaz Brkovic, Assistant Minister for Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Federation of BiH, Mr Ivica Brešić, Minister of Canton 10, Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry and the representatives of the Municipalities of Canton 10.

The first three days are hosted by the Northern Great Plain settlement, Tiszaigar, where the delegation can learn more about the rural development policy implementation at local level including the local Municipality's successful work on public employment and public catering programs. A Local Action Group, the Tisza-menti LEADER KHE will introduce to the participants the process of local rural development planning and implementation and also a farm will be visited in Tiszaigar to see successfully implemented EU funded projects.

The last day of the study tour is dedicated to a meeting with experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and external experts, to discuss besides other topics the Social Land Programme, Start Work Programme, the quality-driven public catering and Geographic Indications.
