Hybrid Event, 17/05/2022 - 20/05/2022

The FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia is implementing activities on seed systems under the regional programme “Regional strategy on seed system”.

In the framework of the regional strategy and the regional TCP project “Creating enabling environments for enhanced climate resilience in agriculture”, aiming to enhance seed systems in selected countries’ and build national capacities to ensure proper seed supply, FAO is organizing a study tour for representatives of Armenia, the Kyrgyz Republic, and North Macedonia. The study tour targets national professionals and policy makers to strengthen their knowledge on seed material renewal, seed certification, and seed supply production. Hungary was selected to provide a good example and information about a functioning seed production and seed breeding system.

The seed sector is among the leading agricultural sectors in Hungary with internationally recognized professional standards and achievements, as well as an outstanding export performance with strong demand for Hungarian seeds creating the economic foundation for this.
