Training of Trainers workshop on agricultural extension and advisory services

FAO in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan is organizing a regional Training of Trainers workshop on agricultural extension and advisory services for Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the framework of the project Strengthening the Capacity of Agricultural Extension Services in Central Asia on Sustainable Intensification of Crop Production.

The aim of the project is to increase and improve the provision of goods and services from agriculture, forestry and fishery sectors in a sustainable manner, enhance equitable access to productive resources, services, organizations and markets of the rural poor, and manage their resources in a more sustainable way.

The project is contributing to the strengthening the organizational and institutional capacities of public and private agricultural extension organizations, establishment and improvement of networks to support innovation and the transition towards a more sustainable agricultural production system. The project is intended to strengthen national governance framework that foster sustainable agricultural production and natural resource management. It has also spurred innovation in rural services provision and infrastructure development accessible to the rural poor.

Project participants, including FAO Agriculture Officer Hafiz Muminjanov, FAO Agricultural Extension Officer Nevena Alexandrova-Stefanova and FAO International Consultant Eric Boa, will contribute to the workshop.

Venue: The workshop will take place at the Institute of Irrigation and Agriculture Mechanization Engineers in Tashkent.
