EU-based private sector consultation to the Regional Conference for Europe

Brussels (Belgium), 15/04/2024

As the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals approaches, agrifood transformation is identified as a crucial theme for the success of the 2030 Agenda. For that, it is imperative that all relevant actors, include private sector entities, work closely together across all levels.

The Thirty-fourth session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe, scheduled for May 14-17 in Rome, Italy, will establish a roadmap and priorities for FAO's work in the region for 2025–2026.

Preceding the Regional Conference, a consultation and dialogue session between private sector representatives based in the European Union and FAO will be held on 15 April in Brussels, Belgium. This event, hosted by Copa-Cogeca, aims to facilitate exchange and sharing of information on current common priorities in food and agriculture of FAO and the private sector, and on the ways to collaborate. The event will consider current challenges,  perspectives, and contributions of the private sector in relation to FAO topics, using the official documents prepared for the Conference as a reference for discussion. It will also serve as a preparatory meeting for the Private Sector Consultation.
