14. Dr. H. Gasse, Chairman of the O International Zoo-sanitary Code Permanent Commission, was asked to explain the functioning of the Code. After having explained the origin, the evolution and the principles of the Code, he indicated that its implementation was not at all incompatible with the existence of International Conventions on the same subject.
He stated that the main provisions of the technical annexes discussed during the Consultation could without difficulty and within a reasonable time, be introduced into the OIE Zoo-sanitary Code, so that they can constitute Recommendations for various interested countries, enabling them to set up programmes for the control of fish diseases and encouraging them to apply these provisions immediately on a voluntary basis.
