To foster the collection of information on research, extension and development activities in aquaculture from public and private sectors, its interpretation and sharing among Member Governments and with agencies interested in supporting and carrying out these activities.
To analyse trends in aquaculture development, review the needs for research globally and regionally; recommend such research initiatives as seem most appropriate to meet the needs identified, and suggest efficient mechanisms to carry them through.
To promote analysis of the economics of different aquaculture systems, including evaluation of critical components, such as: hatcheries, grow-out, feed production and publicly supported services.
