Food Coalition Participated in the 13th Social Business Day: A Recap

27/07/2023, Rome
The Food Coalition proudly participated in the 13th Social Business Day, an annual global gathering organized by the Yunus Centre in collaboration with the Albukhary International University. This year, the event took place in Langkawi, Malaysia, on July 27-28, 2023, under the theme "War, Peace & Economics: Future of Human Beings."

Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of the FAO, participated in the closing session of the event, "Closing Plenary: Creating a New Civilization: A Vision of Our Future with New Economic Framework," with a video message presenting the Food Coalition and its projects.

The Food Coalition actively participated in a key event of the forum, the Europe Country Forum. The roundtable session, titled "Crisis in Europe - Building Sustainable Food Systems through Social Business and Multistakeholder Collaboration in Response to the Current Global Food Crisis," was an opportunity to bring together representatives from various European nations. The discussion centered around the role of social business and multistakeholder collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by Europe's food systems, especially in light of the ongoing global food crisis. The Food Coalition's initiatives were outlined, and their potential impact on addressing these crises was discussed in detail.

The 13th Social Business Day featured numerous high-profile guests, including José Ramos-Horta, former President and Prime Minister of East Timor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Muhammad Yunus, founder of the Grameen Bank and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Leymah Gbowee, Liberian peace activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Marina Silva, former Minister of the Environment of Brazil, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
