The international Symposium “Agriculture, Biodiversity and Food Security: From Commitments to Actions"
The International Symposium "Agriculture, Biodiversity and Food Security: From Commitments to Actions" will be held at the Quebec City Convention Centre from April 30 to May 2, 2024.
The event is co-organised by Université Laval's Graduate School of International Studies (ESEI), the Quebec government's ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Agricultural stakeholders have always played, and will continue to play, a key role in the protection and sustainable management of biodiversity. However, this contribution is often misunderstood, neglected, or, in some cases, left out of national or international processes. This Symposium aims to highlight agriculture as a source of solutions to biodiversity-related challenges and will seek to promote and facilitate the collective commitment of all agricultural stakeholders to the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the transformation of agrifood systems.
If you are interested in participating in this event, please fill in the form. The event participation is possible in person or virtually.
We also invite you to share your experiences, best practices, and evolving solutions for integrating biodiversity into agriculture, in order to inform and fuel discussions at the symposium and facilitate the development of recommendations. This consultation is taking place on the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum). This neutral, public and multilingual FAO platform ensures high visibility for the comments and promotes awareness and knowledge sharing. This is a great opportunity for farmers and other stakeholders to make their voices heard at the international level.
