The Global Report on Food Crises 2017, co-published with the World Food Programme, established a process to compile food insecurity analysis from throughout the world in order to inform programme planning and implementation as well as resource allocation decisions.

This information note reports on the state of food security and nutrition at the beginning of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and identifies key measurement challenges for monitoring progress towards SDG 2.
Multi-sectoral platforms for planning and implementation
This publication examines the benefits of using multi-stakeholder platforms to harness the benefits of cross-sectoral collaboration in tackling planning problems that require a coordinated response in policy formulation and implementation. Examples include platforms to address planning issues around climate change, food security, biodiversity conservation and so on.

Policy guidance notes series – Strengthening sector policies for better food security and nutrition results
The series helps policy makers understand how sectoral issues affect food security and nutrition and how to incorporate these considerations into their policies. What policy changes are needed in sector policies to achieve food security and nutrition objectives? What are the challenges and how can be addressed? Using a stepwise approach, these guidance notes support policy advisors and decision-makers in addressing these questions and integrating food security and nutrition as a key objective in relevant sector policies.
Public–private partnerships for agribusiness development: A review of international experiences
This publication analyses 70 public‒private partnerships cases, gathered from 15 developing countries. It provides evidence derived from FAO’s support in the review of PPP policies on agriculture in Southeast Asia and Central America.
This publication aims to support bottom-up and participatory decision-making processes and encourage social dialogue and partnerships among actors within a given territory. It proposes a holistic methodology to implement a participatory planning process that integrates land, water, tenure and gender together.
The State of Food and Agriculture 2017: Leveraging food systems for inclusive rural transformation
The 2017 report looks at rural and urban areas as a continuum ranging from the farm level to megacities. With economic growth and population dynamics driving societal transformations, it emphasizes the dynamic roles that rural towns and secondary cities play in boosting the rural economy.
The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2017
Using both the traditional measure of the prevalence of undernourishment and a new indicator, the prevalence of severe food insecurity, this publication marks a new era in the monitoring of food security and nutrition in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition. The report warns that the long-term declining trend in undernourishment seems to have come to a halt and may have reversed.
These guidelines set out internationally accepted standards of responsible practices for the use and control of land, fisheries and forests, with the overarching goal of achieving food security for all. Recognizing the centrality of land to development, the Voluntary Guidelines contribute to global and national efforts towards the eradication of hunger and poverty by promoting secure tenure rights and equitable access to land, fisheries and forests.
Watershed management in action
Based on 12 watershed management projects supported by FAO over the past decade, this report stresses the importance of governance, monitoring, knowledge-sharing and collaboration to ensure that watersheds fulfil their potential to sustain both people and the environment.
