Appel à expériences, bonnes pratiques et solutions évolutives pour l’intégration de la biodiversité dans l’agriculture
La biodiversité est la pierre angulaire de la production durable et de la sécurité alimentaire. Elle contribue à la santé des écosystèmes, à la durabilité de la production alimentaire et à la résilience des moyens d’existence. Le secteur de l’agriculture – la production végétale et animale, la pêche, l’aquaculture et la foresterie – est tributaire de la biodiversité et des services écosystémiques qu’elle procure, mais il est aussi le secteur qui a la plus grande influence sur la biodiversité.
Le Cadre mondial de la biodiversité de Kunming-Montréal adopté en décembre 2022 pose les jalons de l’action mondiale en faveur de la biodiversité au cours des six prochaines années et au-delà. Il comprend 23 cibles pour 2030 dont plusieurs concernent spécifiquement le secteur agricole. Sa mise en œuvre nécessitera l’implication des parties prenantes du secteur agricole.
Le défi de cette mise en œuvre sera le sujet du Colloque international "Agriculture, biodiversité et sécurité alimentaire : des engagements aux actions", qui se tiendra à Québec, Canada, du 30 avril au 2 mai 2024.[1] Le colloque discutera les recommandations techniques visant à faciliter l’engagement du secteur agricole afin d’atteindre les cibles du Cadre mondial pertinentes pour l’agriculture. Ces recommandations s'appuieront sur les efforts déjà déployés pour intégrer la biodiversité dans l'agriculture et tiendront compte des opportunités, des contraintes et des défis, pour les producteurs et toutes les autres parties prenantes, afin de mieux intégrer la biodiversité dans l'agriculture.
Par cet appel à contribution, le comité de pilotage du colloque et ses co-présidents sollicitent votre expérience et expertise sur les outils et ressources pertinents qui existent déjà, les expériences et bonnes pratiques et les solutions concrètes et évolutives concernant la biodiversité et l’agriculture, afin d’informer et alimenter les discussions du colloque et de faciliter le développement des recommandations.
Une première version des recommandations (version zéro) sert de référence pour compléter le modèle de présentation (veuillez télécharger depuis la page Web de l'appel).
L’appel à contributions est ouvert jusqu’au 18 mars 2024.

A successful partnership between the University of Reading, UK, the M S Swaminathan Reserach Foundation India, and a network of small holder famers in the Southern Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, saw us co-design ecological interventions in rice, okra, mango and moringa fields in. All interventions (including lentils, sunflowers and sesame) were co-developed with smallholder farmers to ensure context specific floral resources to boost beneficial biodiversity including natural enemies of pests and insect pollinators. These in turn contributed to enhanced ecosystem services, better yield and quality of produce and improved livelihoods. The interventions also provided co-benefits in the form of added income or by meeting household nutritional needs. These practices are now being adopted further by farming communities in the wider countryside through peer to peer sharing of knowledge and good practice. We are pleased to submit our submission, "Co-designing and scaling sustainable agricultural systems for biodiversity enhancement, climate change mitigation and peacebuilding in Colombia."
The initiative focused on designing and scaling sustainable agricultural interventions to reduce deforestation and promote peace in Colombia while enhancing biodiversity in production systems. Sustainable Land Use Systems (SLUS) were co-developed, incorporating practices at farm, landscape, and value chain levels. The project aimed to create sustainable rural livelihoods in post-conflict areas, combining research with stakeholder engagement to tailor interventions to smallholder producers and create enabling environments for scaling.

Please find attached our submission for the call titled "Optimizing access by producers to existing green finance toward biodiversity conservation."
In Colombia, smallholder farmers face barriers to adopting sustainable practices due to limited financial resources. Our initiative aims to address this challenge by optimizing access to existing green finance mechanisms. We are collaborating with the government to adjust tax incentive policies, mobilize funding for nature-based solutions, and build capacity for regulatory harmonization. Additionally, we are working with cocoa producers' organizations to structure projects eligible for funding.

Guía para la bioprospección, rescate y revalorización de alimentos de la biodiversidad para la producción sensible a la nutrición y la seguridad alimentaria en Latinoamérica y el Caribe
La propuesta presentada constituye una guía integral destinada a abordar las limitaciones presentes en la investigación relacionada con la falta de representación de numerosas plantas alimenticias en los datos disponibles. Esta iniciativa se enmarca en la búsqueda de soluciones sostenibles, especialmente tras la Cumbre de Sistemas Alimentarios de las Naciones Unidas en 2021, con el objetivo de transformar los sistemas alimentarios actuales para mejorar su eficiencia, resiliencia e inclusión de las poblaciones más vulnerables. Dicha guía se alinea con el esfuerzo global hacia la revalorización y preservación de la biodiversidad, en pro de la acción climática, así como de la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional.
