An excellent, very tightly argued report supported by rich, sound data. My main concern is that it is focused on what we know now, with recommendations for the present and short term.   I would have liked to see a more focused dicusssion of trends over the medium to longer term (population, demand for forest and tree products (for food and other competing products eg biofuel), trade (and energy/emissions issues in the context of the climate change agreement), and the implications for investment, land tenure, employment, R&D needs/investment, forest/tree food standards and regulations etc.  To reach the future we desire, we need to take some critical actions now with regard to policy, legislation, standards/regulations, investment, employment creation/conditions/skills and capacity building etc etc. Also we need to be clear on values - are we just permitting free market development (especially in the corporate sector) or are we looking for/protecting values of equity, poverty reduction, employment creation under decent conditions (especially for youth and women)?
