Toward a FSN Forum in West Africa – Workshop in Accra, Ghana

The FSN Forum Team is happy to inform you that the workshop “Toward a FSN Forum in West Africa” took place on 20-21 November 2013 in Accra, Ghana.

Sharing knowledge and expertise on food security and nutrition is a key factor in the fight against hunger and malnutrition and the Global Forum on Food Security and Nutrition (FSN Forum) contributes to this goal since 2007.

Building on the increasing participation of West African experts and practitioners in the FSN Forum online discussions, and on the various on-going initiatives in the region, the FSN Forum is now facilitating a sub-regional subset dedicated to West Africa.

In order to support the further development of the West Africa FSN Forum and ensure its full ownership by regional actors from different backgrounds (including from civil society, academy and research and government), a 1.5 day workshop has taken place. The workshop brought together 20 participants from West Africa, most of them being active members on FSN Forum.

The workshop aimed to consolidate the FSN Forum in West Africa and to provide future guidance for the network and linkages with existing initiatives.

More information on the workshop is available on the workshop concept note.

The outcomes of the workshop are incorporated in the Strategy and work plan for the FSN Forum in West Africa, which includes background on the FSN Forum in West Africa, the vision and strategic objectives and the areas of work identified for 2014.
