Dimitra, an information and communication project focusing on gender, women and rural development, currently implemented in several Sub-saharian countries.
I currently lead the work on “community engagement for empowerment and gender equality” based in the Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division (ESP) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO). I am also the Coordinator of the FAO-Dimitra Clubs Programme, which aims at facilitating dialogue, participation, voice, and collective action of smallholder farmers, with a special focus on women and youth.
I have over 25 years of professional experience working with FAO and other Rome-based UN organizations (WFP and IFAD) in the sector of gender and rural development, notably on socio-economic and gender analysis, participatory methodologies, communication, and capacity development. Provided backstopping and support to a variety of gender-related development projects and programmes in a wide range of countries in Western and Central Africa. Prior to joining FAO, I accumulated several years of professional experience in journalism and participatory training.
