The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) is pleased to submit the experiences from two multi-stakeholder workshops organized in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic in 2018, in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), through the joint activity entitled: “Strengthening capacities on legal and policy frameworks for responsible investment in agriculture and food systems".
Through multi-stakeholder and multisectoral dialogues, the goal of the workshops was to identify legal and policy capacity needs in both countries to advance the use and implementation of the CFS-RAI Principles. The assessment focused on (i) the institutional framework and coordination; (ii) policies, laws, strategies and incentives; (iii) institutional capacity and services; (iv) individual capacities.
The activity informed the preparation of a capacity development plan to enhance the use of CFS-RAI Principles in both countries, based on the legal gaps identified.
