I am working on:

I am an anthropologist/archaeologist, multidisciplinary researcher, and practitioner with expertise in social sciences approaches to agroecology and traditional food systems and experience across a range of research, academic, and civil society positions in Canada, the UK, and Brazil. My activities have a particular focus on the intersection between community-based, participatory research and issues of sustainable food systems, conservation, environment, and rural livelihoods in Southern Brazil. I am currently working on two lines of research, one of which is part of a large international partnership to develop a network of knowledge, practice, and transformational change around regional food systems, while the other examines the importance of understanding the subjectivities, narratives, and materialities, of traditional ecological knowledge and production systems to support conservation. Each of these lines of research informs the other and both focus on multivocality and documenting of memories, knowledge, and material culture of those who are often left out of dominant discourses and development discussions.
