International Year of Camelids 2024 Exhibition at the Palais des Nations

The Geneva celebration of the International Year of Camelids 2024 organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), together with the Permanent Missions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the United Nations Office at Geneva, is dedicated to creating momentum by recognizing and celebrating the vital contributions these animals make to livelihoods, food security, and nutrition, together with Members, United Nations Organizations, Intergovernmental Organizations, and other relevant stakeholders in Geneva.

22 June marks the World Camel Day in 2024. To celebrate this day, a week-long exhibition from 24-28 June 2024 will take place in-person at the Serpent Bar, Palais des Nations, showcasing the multifaceted role of camelids not only as sources of fibre, milk, and meat, but also as resilient and sustainable contributors to local economies. Join us for the High-level Exhibition Opening Celebration of the International Year of Camelids 2024 on 25 June 2024, 13:00 CEST at the Serpent Bar, Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, where we will present concrete insights on the significance of camelids to food security, nutrition, and economic growth as well as hold a strong cultural and social significance for communities across the world.

Furthermore, learn more about how Youth is actively engaged in the celebration of International Year of Camelids and how to engage young people to work in the camelid sector. The High-level Exhibition Opening Celebration will feature keynote presentations on the vital role camelids play in nourishing people and culture, followed by the official commencement of a week-long Camel Parade Exhibition, held in collaboration with the Permanent Missions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and United Nations Office at Geneva.
