FAO Liaison Office in Geneva

Nutrition-sensitive social protection across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus

Virtual Event, 08/05/2024

FAO in Geneva invites you to join a dialogue on Nutrition-sensitive social protection across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus, organized in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP). This initiative is a collective effort involving the FAO Liaison Office in Brussels, the FAO Inclusive Rural Transformation and Gender Equality Division (ESP), and the FAO Food and Nutrition Division (ESN).

The dialogue aims to gather governmental and non-governmental stakeholders to discuss and exchange knowledge to inform a more coherent approach to social protection for food security and nutrition. It will present updated evidence on the impacts of social protection on nutrition, emphasizing its effects on the diet, quality and nutrition status of groups in situation of vulnerability. It will share country experiences regarding social protection operational modalities to improve nutrition across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace nexus - as well as the complementarities  with other sectors - and identify lessons and policy recommendations to ensure social protection addresses the underlying and immediate causes of malnutrition.
