Sustainability Week Geneva 2022

  • Every spring, college students in cities across Switzerland organize their respective Sustainability Week, which aims to place sustainability at the core  of Swiss higher education institutions. This year, Sustainability Week Geneva, is being organized in coordination between the Geneva Graduate Institute's Environmental Committee (EC) and the University of Geneva's Student Association for Sustainable Development (EDD). In a series of activities, students debate the concept of sustainable development, the current situation and way forward to strenghening awareness on the value of sutainability.

 

Sustaianbility Week Career Day 2022

  • One of the main activities of the Sustainability Week 2022 is the Career Day, in which partners are invited to make a brief presentation to students.
  • Director LOG provided an overview of FAO’s work, mandate and structure and the current status of global food security in the world. He highlighted that FAO supports governments and development partners to design  policies, programmes and legal frameworks that promote food security and nutrition. FAO also advocates for the implementation of these policies and programmes, encouraging sufficient financial resources to be made available, the right organizational structures to be in place, and importantly, ensuring adequate human capacities.  
  • Director LOG highlighted important initiatives taken by the Director-General such as the establishment of the FAO’s Youth Committee and the World Food forum (WFF), an initiative started by the Youth Committee with its very first event taking place at the beginning of October 2021. WFF is a global movement to engage youth in the transformation of agrifood system.

 

  • Several questions were made on the the opportunities available and how to be better prepared to pursuing a career with FAO.
