Forests are home to 80% of the world's terrestrial species of animals, plants and insects. Today, however, this biodiversity is seriously threatened and millions of hectares of forests are lost every year. Community forest management (CFM) is one of the most promising solutions to finding a compromise between the preservation of nature and economic development. Currently, CFM is a strategic alternative that must be promoted and upscaled in order to conserve, sustainably manage and use natural resources, as well as to improve livelihoods of rural communities that depend on or live near forest ecosystems.

Within the framework of the UN-REDD Program, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is inviting everyone who is interested in CFM and wants to explore the topic further to participate in the webinar “Exchange of Community Forest Management Experiences in Latin America". The session will showcase lessons learned in CFM in four Latin American countries: Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Peru.

At the end of the webinar, FAO will launch the Spanish version of the E-learning course on "Open and Transparent: Forest data setting the course for green future under the Paris Agreement".
