Enhancing land consolidation in North Macedonia

The project assists the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Economy (MAFWE) in developing a Land Re-allotment Plan and planning of the agricultural infrastructure improvements in Chiflik, following the recommendations of a 2019 feasibility study. All 404 agricultural landowners actively participate in key activities and decision-making throughout the land consolidation process.

The preferred approach for land consolidation in Chiflik, is majority-based land consolidation. This approach aims to create a new Plan for the land parcels that optimizes their shape, location, and size, while improving access to essential agricultural infrastructure such as roads, irrigation, and drainage channels based on community needs.

A licensed geodetic company, in compliance with the Law on Consolidation of Agricultural Land, was contracted to facilitate negotiations with the Chiflik landowners, conduct fair and transparent land valuations for all parcels in the project area, and prepare the Re-allotment Plan, under the supervision of FAO and MAFWE. The Plan also includes a technical design for enhancing agricultural infrastructure in Chiflik.

Once the Re-allotment Plan is adopted by the Landowners' Assembly in Chiflik, the newly formed land parcels will be registered in the Agency for Real Estate Cadaster, and the boundaries of the new parcels will be marked in the project area.
