Capacity building training on statistical data processing and analysis in Niger

The STATISTICAL TOOLS package was implemented in Niger across two on-site workshops: the first held from October 3rd to the 7th, 2022, and the second held from January 15th to the 21st, 2023.

The training was developed across three modules focusing on data processing and analysis of agricultural survey data and it addressed the technical staff of the institutions in charge of agricultural statistics. 

In total 14 participants took part in the training, 11 members of the Ministry of Agriculture, two participants from the Ministry of Livestock, and one participant from the Statistical Office. Out of 14 participants, 5 were women.

During the training, Mr. Moumouni Tankari Aliou, Deputy Director of the Statistical Department of the Ministry was present.

Both sessions were opened by the trainer Nayo Ankouvi from FAO HQ and by Mr. Aliou from the Ministry of Agriculture who expressed his gratitude to FAO for this capacity-building opportunity.

The TOOLS module implemented in October focused mainly on the production of descriptive statistics, with the preferred statistical software (SPSS). The second module conducted in January referred to data cleaning and data imputation with SPSS.

The participants declared to be satisfied with the training and to have achieved the required expertise to analyze, clean, and impute improving the quality of the statistics produced by their home institutions.
