Sampling design, weighting, and estimations training in Burundi

Under the framework of the Global Strategy to improve agricultural and rural statistics Burundi organized a training course on Sampling design, weighting, and estimations, held from November 21st to 25th, 2022, in Gitega.

The training was delivered by Dramane Bako and Desire Nkezabahizi, statisticians at the FAO Statistics Division and took place at the Hotel Petit Monde.  The Director of Agricultural Statistics and the head of FAO’s mission were responsible for opening the ceremony.

The workshop had 16 participants, 25% female, who came from the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Statistics, Directorate of Livestock, Institute of Geography, Directorate of Agriculture and Planning unit from Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Livestock.

The participants appreciated the relevance of the training in relation to their needs. They indicated that they had improved their knowledge of the sampling, weighting and estimation techniques of the national agricultural surveys – ENAB and their ability to start Master Sampling Frame.
