Under the framework of the Global Strategy to improve agricultural and rural statistics (GSARS), Mali held a training on SPSS descriptive statistics analysis and data processing.

The training took place from November 14 to 25, 2022, in Bamako and was delivered by Maurice Taondyandé, a statistician at the FAO Statistics Division.

The 15 participants, 27% of whom were female, came from the Planning and Statistics Unit (CPS), the National Institute of Statistics and other technical departments of the Ministry in Charge of Agriculture (National Directorate of Agriculture, National Directorate of Rural Engineering, National Directorate of Animal Production and Industries, National Directorate of Veterinary Services, National Directorate of Fisheries).

After the workshop’s opening by the Director of CPS and the Assistant to the FAO Representative in Mali, the training took place over ten days through theoretical presentations and hands-on sessions.

The participants all appreciated the relevance of the training in relation to their needs. They indicated that they had acquired new helpful knowledge for the processing and descriptive analysis of agricultural survey data.
