At the 12th World Forestry Congress, in Quebec, Canada (21-28 Sept. 2003), Mr. Hosny El-Lakany, FAO Assistant Director General, Forestry Department, emphasized the need for increased cooperation and coordination among international processes and agencies, and said that giving forests a higher profile on the international agenda will require a sustained commitment at the highest political level.
