Support to Food Security, Poverty Alleviation and Soil Degradation Control in the Gums and Resins Producing Countries. The project ?Acacia Operation? (ref.GTFS/RAF/387/ITA) is funded by Italy through the FAO's Special Fund for Food Security. It was approved and signed by the first six beneficiary African countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Kenya, Niger, Senegal and Sudan) in November 2003 and became operative in 2004 under a 30 month-pilot phase.
