Fisheries and aquaculture: a significant contribution to global food security FAO launches
Rome, 9 July 2012 ? FAO has released its State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture report (SOFIA) as the 30th session of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI) opened at headquarters in Rome. The Report's main message is that fisheries and aquaculture are contributing very extensively to livelihoods, nutrition and food security.

"There is great potential but a lot of things need to be done to ensure that future generations can benefit from good governance and management", says Grainger, one of SOFIA's editors.
