Opening ceremony of the FAO/WHO International Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems

1 December 2016, Rome--- Hundreds of technical officers from around the world are convening today at the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy to talk about a major issue for experts working on global food security – Hidden hunger. According to the Organization, while 793 million people go to bed hungry around our planet, an estimated 2 billion people lack adequate vitamins and minerals in their daily diets. This two day technical symposium - organized by FAO and the World Health Organization – aims to help experts find new ways to meet the 2030 sustainable development goals and targets for improved nutrition in their countries.
