15 September 2017, Rome--- After steadily declining for over a decade, world hunger is once again on the rise according to five United Nations agencies. The UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, World Food programme, UNICEF and the World health Organization have jointly issued statements today with the release of the annual State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report. According to the report, some 815 million people were affected by hunger in 2016, which is 11 per cent of the global population. This is an increase of 38 million more people from the previous year. As well, the analysis indicates that multiple forms of malnutrition are threatening the health of millions more worldwide.
