"Learn by doing"
The FAO through the Junior Farmer Field and Life Schools is committed to assisting the rural 12 to 18 year-olds, AIDS orphans and other vulnerable youth and those adults leaving and working with them, in acquiring the knowledge, life skills, and attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, contributing, and productive members of society.

Dr. Gabriel Rugalema is in charge of the HIV/AIDS and Food Security programme in FAO. He explains:

Learning agricultural skills doesn't prevent from attending school but strengthens the practical side of socialization and education. This is why, said Mr. Rugalema, FAO will need to work with other partners in this project:
