The voluntary guidelines: a significant contribution to the Rio+20 initiative Governance of
11 May 2012, Rome ? A press conference was held at FAO headquarters for final endorsement of the Voluntary Guidelines on the Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security, during the 38th Special Session of CFS. Voluntary Guidelines set out principles and internationally accepted standards for responsible practices.
They provide a framework that Governments can use when developing their own strategies, policies, legislation and programmes. The guidelines aim at promoting food security and sustainable development by ensuring secure access to land, fisheries and forests to vulnerable populations.
