Official launch: International Year of Natural Fibres (IYNF) 2009
22 January 2009 -- The UN Organization today officially launched International Year of Natural Fibres (IYNF) 2009 to celebrate the virtues of cotton, flax, sisal and hemp, but also of wool, alpaca, camel hair and angora. As the coordinating Agency, FAO will take the lead and engage world partners in raising awareness and provide support to the year-long celebration.
Habiba sent greetings to Rome and the UN community through Mr Salum Shamte, Managing Director, Katani Ltd, Tanzania. Katani is a large Tanzanian sisal company, Mr Shamte has long experience in the sisal industry in both government service and in private enterprise.
