FAO, along with other Rome based-Agencies, pledges to continue to work together to support the government of Haiti in the country's rehabilitation, using their combined resources and expertise, in particular, to help women overcome the challenges they face in the aftermath of the quake. Dick Trenchard, is back in Rome from Haiti where he helped in the Emergency Operations as an FAO Assessments Co-ordinator. "Rural areas are deeply affected with a strong gender dimension", he said.
