Get the best from your food
More than 800 million people around the globe simply do not have enough food to eat. But access to food alone will not ensure good nutrition or health. Appropriate diets and lifestyles are key. This is the message behind FAO's public education initiative, "Get the Best from Your Food", which includes easy-to-understand nutrition information for the general public and offers a more comprehensive technical guide for those involved in nutrition education programmes.

Since 1993, in an effort to encourage nutritionists and educators to adapt and supplement the materials to suit their communities'needs, "Get the Best from Your Food" has been translated into more than 20 languages and used in schools and local campaigns in various countries. Bill Clay, Chief of FAO's Nutrition Programmes Service, discusses the history and philosophy behind "Get the Best from Your Food" .
