FAO to support beneficial investments in land acquisition to ensure food security
Audio
According to FAO Land Tenure and Management Unit Senior Officer Paul Mathieu, recent land acquisition developments represent a major change in investment and the ways to respond to food security needs, a long-term structural trend. While it is too early now to know what will be the result of this phenomenon of massive foreign investment to acquire land, FAO's role is to support governments and other actors to make good decisions and obtain the best results in terms of food security and improving the incomes of the rural poor.
