Forests, a green path towards meeting global challenges

Rome, 26 September 2012- The 2012 State of the World's Forests report (SOFO) has been released during the 21st Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO), held at FAO headquarters 24-28 September 2012. According to SOFO, better and more sustainable use of forestry resources can make a significant contribution to meeting many of the core global challenges including poverty and hunger, climate change, and more sustainable sources of bio-products and bio-energy for human use.
