FAO Deputy Director-General:the importance of Financial Inclusion for the rural poor

12 December 2013, Rome/Dar-es-Salaam/Dodoma - After a week of official visits to Ethiopia and Tanzania, Maria-Helena Semedo, Deputy-Director-General of FAO accompanied a delegation including Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands; Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme(WFP); and Adolfo Brizzi, the Director of Policy and Technical Advisory Division at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The mission ended today with a press conference following a launch event for the Bank of Tanzania's National Financial Inclusion Framework.

Maria Helena Semedo elaborates on the importance of financial inclusion and what it means for the livelihoods of the rural poor, in a joint interview with Channel Ten and BBC Radio after the press conference in Tanzania.
