Hunger reduction has accelerated, but 805 million still chronically undernourished
23 September 2014--- The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in conjunction with United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) – jointly held a media briefing in Harare Zimbabwe to shed some light on the major findings of this year’s UN hunger report (State of World Food Insecurity – SOFI 2014) and what this means for Southern Africa. Apart from the SOFI 2014 findings, other issues affecting food security were also discussed including Nutrition and Climate Change mitigation. The briefing concluded by reinforcing the SOFI 2014 takeaway messages on how accurate data from the SOFI report could further influence policy direction at country level.
