FAO Framework for the Urban Food Network

With over half the global population now residing in urban areas, and that number expected to increase to two-thirds by 2050, food must become central to all integrated urban planning. FAO’s Jamie Morrison, Strategic Programme Leader of the Food Systems Programme describes the new FAO Framework for the Urban Food Network and its work to strengthen local food governance, shorten supply chains, promote good nutrition, strengthen agri-food businesses, and decrease food loss and waste. An exchange of information and knowledge sharing across municipalities is encouraged and supported by FAO and partners.
