2014 International Year of Family Farming

The United Nations named 2014 the International Year of Family Farming. The goal throughout the year is to raise awareness of the challenges facing family farming -- which is the largest employer in the world. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says it is crucial to promote the sector as a way of production in order to combat hunger and poverty and contribute to healthy food systems.
