Another significant milestone in the global parliamentary fight against hunger and malnutrition was reached at the 52nd Plenary Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS52) side event, Catalyzing Parliamentary Action through CFS Policy Products and the Global Parliamentary Pact for food system transformation. The event aimed to showcase the transformative potential of the newly adopted Global Parliamentary Pact against Hunger and Malnutrition, as well as FAO’s efforts towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2, Zero Hunger, through the implementation of CFS policy products.

Ganja, Azerbaijan – In a significant move towards advancing sustainable agricultural development in Azerbaijan, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ASAU) formalized a new partnership today through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Representing 22 national parliaments from across Europe and Central Asia, including both those from the European Union (EU) and non-EU countries, participants at a regional meeting of parliamentarians on agrifood systems have raised their voices for the transformation of rural agrifood systems to be more inclusive and more resilient. After two days of intense and constructive discussions, the regional meeting, hosted by the Speaker of the Parliament of Albania in Tirana, and facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), concluded yesterday.

The initiatives target water and food security challenges caused by climate change in fragile nations
Songdo/Rome - In a landmark decision, the Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved funding for two transformative projects valued at $134 million, to support adaptation and enhance the climate resilience of vulnerable agricultural communities in Somalia and Iraq. These initiatives, spearheaded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will empower millions of farmers and pastoralists to adapt to the escalating impacts of climate change, including droughts, floods, and water scarcity.
