Bolivia is a country of spectacular landscapes and profoundly diverse environments.  North of the capital La Paz, in a region called Alto Beni, right where the Andes give way to Amazon forest, FAO is working with a community of Andean people that cultivate a world-famous cocoa variety, the "Criollo" cocoa, renowned for its nutritional values. 

Tunis: Mr Samir Taieb, Minister of Agriculture of Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries, and Mr Michael Hage, FAO Coordinator for North Africa and Representative for Tunisia, signed three projects and a Tripartite South-South Cooperation Agreement during a ceremony at Ministry headquarters today. Some 1 250 rural households residing along the contact line in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine are receiving seed potatoes this week from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This is the second round of FAO’s vegetable seed distribution aimed at helping farmers get ready for the planting campaign now under way in eastern Ukraine.

A programme that helps rural women in Kyrgyzstan gain access to new economic opportunities has received significant financial support from the Swedish government.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MALR), has launched the project “Support sustainable water management and irrigation modernization for newly reclaimed areas”.
