El Manual Popular es una guía pedagógica y didáctica que aspira a facilitar la comprensión de las Directrices Voluntarias y a dar una orientación práctica para su uso
Roma, 21 de junio de 2016. Una red de organizaciones de la sociedad civil de todo el mundo, con el apoyo técnico de la FAO, han publicado el Manual Popular de las Directrices sobre la Gobernanza de la Tierra, la Pesca y los Bosques. Es un esfuerzo dirigido a profundizar en la implementación a nivel de base de las Directrices voluntarias de tenencia responsable de la tierra, pesca y bosques (VGGT, por sus siglas en inglés).

The Agreement calls for the exchange of expertise and resources, development of training materials and greater professional learning opportunities for students
FAO and the Roma Tre University in Rome have signed an agreement to strengthen their ongoing collaboration in the education sector. FAO will now contribute its expertise in the key themes of Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Development to the university Master’s courses.
As a result of the agreement, Roma Tre will formally integrate FAO's materials and resources in its English-language Master’s programs "Human Development and Food Security" and "Cooperatives: Economics, Law and Management". These programs are of particular relevance to FAO’s priority areas of work: Family Farming, Nutrition, Microfinance, Cooperatives, Gender, Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems,...

15 June 2016, Brussels - Sustainable rural development is key to addressing hunger, poverty and the other root causes of migration, a growing phenomenon which is undermining many countries' ability to achieve their development goals, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva said today.
"The migratory pressures causing major concern at a global level today result from war, conflict and political instability, but FAO also calls for adequate attention to be given to pressures associated with the very root causes of migration," Graziano da Silva told participants at the European Development Days 2016 in Brussels.

Gobierno aprobó la nueva Ley de soberanía y seguridad alimentaria y nutricional.
La aprobación por la Cámara de Diputados de República Dominicana de la nueva Ley de Soberanía y Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional es un paso fundamental hacia la erradicación del hambre y la malnutrición en dicho país, señaló hoy la FAO.
La ley fue declarada de urgencia y aprobada el 8 de junio, creando el Sistema Nacional para la Soberanía y Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional.
Este sistema facilitará el diseño e implementación de todas las políticas, programas y proyectos de soberanía y seguridad alimentaria y nutricional en el país, siguiendo un enfoque de derechos.

7 June 2016, Beijing - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Government of the People's Republic of China have announced plans to intensify their partnership in south-south cooperation activities, FAO announced today.
After decades of successful collaboration, China and FAO have agreed to broaden the scope of their cooperation, building on their achievements to further promote rural development worldwide.
