The FAO Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division presents a brief showcasing FAO's partnership with the Asian Partnership for Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas (AsiaDHRRA).

AsiaDHRRA has long been a partner of FAO, particularly active in the Asia and Pacific region, going back to 2010 when an ad hoc committee of civil society was formed during the civil society consultation held prior to the 2010 Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.  This process spearheaded over ten years of strong regional-level collaboration, particularly in areas of policy dialogue for processes including the Committee on World Food Security, the International Year on Family Farming and UN Decade of Family farming.  The FAO-AsiaDHRRA partnership was formalized through a three-year Memorandum of Understanding in 2020, which was recently renewed in 2023 for another five years.

In addition to policy processes, the partners have engaged in important work together to empower women and youth particularly on the implementation of the principles on Responsible Investments in Agriculture and Food Systems (RAI).  This brief highlights some of the key results from activities undertaken in recent years in this area, and planned areas of continued work together.

About the partner:

AsiaDHRRA is a regional partnership of eleven social development networks and organizations in eleven Asian countries that envisions Asian rural communities that are just, free, prosperous, living in peace and working in solidarity towards self-reliance.  AsiaDHRRA is an affiliate of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and a member of AgriCord, a global alliance of agri-agencies mandated by farmers’ organizations.
