Drought within an ocean – Celestina’s story

Celestina Tavares, a livestock farmer in Cabo Verde is at the forefront of the battle against the threats posed by the climate change to the farmers of this archipelago nation, bringing prolonged droughts and scarce pasture for animals. Through the FAO-China South-South Cooperation project, a group of Chinese experts pass on their knowledge and expertise to Cabo Verdean farmers and livestock producers to fight pests, manage soil and animal production, and offer other useful techniques in adapting to the effects of climate change.
