Support to the Rehabilitation of Solar Groundwater Irrigation-Pumping Systems in the Regained Areas

The project will support to the rehabilitation of solar ground water irrigation-pumping systems in the regained areas.  Support will be provided to increase water productivity for irrigated agriculture and promote sustainable water management practices. The farming community in target areas will have improved access to irrigation water.

Project targets:

  • 120 families’ income and food production are increased.
  • 40 solar-powered pumping systems delivered to vulnerable farming households.
  • Capacity building opportunities provided to 120 household representatives.

Resource partner: The Government of Japan

Contribution: USD 625 000

Implementation period: 31/03/2019 – 31/07/2020

Target areas: Nineveh and Salah Al Din Governorates
