The Tashkent Water Security Lectures (TWSL) is a series of webinars that is organized in an online format since 2020. This webinar series was launched in the frame of the CAWa-Green project of the Green Central Asia Program initiated by the Foreign Office of Germany. The first webinar was organized in December 2020 with a follow-up two TWSLs in 2021 (May and November). The TWSL was launched due to a pandemic situation that also disconnected many due to travel restrictions. Therefore a new format of meeting to discuss water scarcity and security-related questions was initiated by the CAWa-Green Project.

During individual TWSL webinars in 2020 and 2021, about 50-60 participants attended. The topics focused on water resources and climate change as well as land management in Central Asia. The TWSL was conceptualized in a way that it serves as an online platform to discuss questions related to water and land management in Central Asia. Thus, the main part of the TWSL is not presentations but interactive discussions.

This event was jointly organized with the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME). Such an event can be upscaled as a regional or global event on different topics. The speakers and topics are important success factors for such a webinar. The continuity of such events is important to achieve sustainability. Therefore, such an event should be organized at least 2 times a year to ensure participants return each time. The openness and good moderation of the event are important to create an interactive discussion and good atmosphere during the event.

Implementing partners are : GFZ Potsdam,  and Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME). The reports about this webinar were each time reported and placed at the CAWa-Green Project website.
